The Library System |
 |
The Library System provides all the major functions necessary to automate a library.
Although primarily designed to be operated by non-professional librarians and their
volunteers, the Library System also provides the ability for patrons to search for
and place holds on titles directly. Features of the Library System include:
- Cataloging. Add, modify, and remove titles from your collection
using a comprehensive set of attributes, including Title, Author, Media Type (book,
cassette, video, etc.), Dewey Decimal number, Category (Fiction, Non-Fiction, Biography,
etc.), ISBN, Library of Congress Call Number, and several other attributes.
Use as many or as few as desired. Auto Catalog is a powerful
feature allowing you to download information about your books from the Library of
Congress to automatically add books into the Library System (Internet connection
required). The Library System gives you the ability to print spine labels
and barcode labels if desired to assist with organizing and check in/check out.
Support for multiple collections allows one organization to handle
multiple libraries in separate locations, such as churches with multiple pastoral
libraries, schools with separate pre-school and elementary libraries, and corporations
with multiple specialized libraries. Patrons are shared among collections,
searches can be done in one or all collections, but titles are unique to each collection.
- Title Search. Powerful searching for titles by any attribute
or combination of attributes.
- Patron Management. Add, modify, and remove patrons from the
system. If desired, group patrons by family to more easily track checked
out and overdue items. Patrons can be informed of overdue items via email
or printed notice, and informed on items on hold becoming available via email as
soon as the item is returned.
- Check In/Check Out. Use barcodes, numbers, or title names
for check in and check out.
- Customization. The Library System can be tailored to your
specific needs by providing a large number of customizations, including the message
for overdue notices, use of email notifications, spine label contents and formatting,
and many other options.
- On-Line Help. Each screen has specific instructions to help
learn and use the system.
